Since first forming as "Robots" in July 2017, Kill the Moon played their first gig at the Tap 'n' Tumbler in August alongside Desensitised, Doomsday Sun and Grand Ultra. This gig predates our current band name which was founded shortly after from our shared love of the BBC's famous TV show, Doctor Who.

Our second gig at The Maze, September 2017 under the then new name, Kill the Moon and were invited back to play our third show supporting Scott Bugg & The Vital Few, Talk to Frank and Super Furniture. We released a demo version of Fluctuate on 5th February 2018 available to stream on SoundCloud as well as a supporting music video on YouTube. We had a few attempts of making this a four piece but we were never fully happy with the result.

We had a break for about a year and reformed April 2019. Since then, Kill The Moon had played a handful of gigs supporting other local bands they boldly returned to the Nottingham music scene, performing sets at The Golden Fleece and The Chameleon. Also, putting on our own headline shows with support from Alice's Ants and Red Puppets...

During the global Covid-19 pandemic, with government lockdowns the band faced pressures and uncertainty. We continued to rehearse when restrictions allowed but in August 2020, our long standing frontman Jake Marriott decided to leave along with our drummer at-the-time Micheal Ives.

In this time of emptiness Kim (Bassist) managed to slowly rebuild and form a new line up, which had been in the works since September 2020 but kept quiet. It was a quick process finding a new vocalist as Dan had registered interest before. We managed to get in a couple of tester rehearsals before the winter lockdown and by then we knew we had found the right fit. Jake kindly also gave us permission to perform our early originals that we had wrote with him, still giving him credit of course.

Our current new line up, which was first announced in April 2021 with Daniel Bacon (vocals & guitar), Kim Keeton (bass & backing vocals) & Peter Blatherwick (drums) has been rehearsing regularly since the announcement as restrictions eased and we've been working extremely hard to build up a fantastic setlist.
